I know Fran quite well. Her husband launched a company that is one of best examples of dealing with overweight and diabetes prevention – DPS Health. The company is based on technology enabled behavior change. It uses an accelerator that heavy patients wear to get a sense of their activity levels. I can see that if I took the stairs that would give me 25% more action, for instance. The data are connected to a coaching system with online educational modules. They data also go to the healthcare provider on the other end. That to me is one of the best examples of a program. But there is a fight to get reimbursement because it is expensive and preventive.
